A high-speed train crashed into another stationary one during a crashworthiness test conducted in China. The test featured eight carriages per train. The moving train was travelling at a speed of 36 kilometers per hour (22 miles per hour). The purpose of the test was to examine the quality of the passive safety system, which protects passengers once the active safety system fails and a crash occurs.
