Recorded earlier that year at De Montfort Hall in Leicester during the “Foxtrot” tour (except “The Return of the Giant Hogweed” recorded in Manchester), the live album reached the top 10 in the UK - the band’s first album to do so. Genesis released ‘Abacab’ as a single, from the album of the same name, on this day in 1981. Phil, explaining the song’s name: “Well “ABACAB” originally was a way of remembering the sequence of the song. “A” was the verse, “B” was the chorus, “A” was the verse [again], “C” was the bridge. So it went verse, chorus, verse, bridge, verse, chorus. We didn’t do the song like that in the end.
